A little bit about me.
I started as a trumpet player in the fourth grade. I played trumpet through High School but was drawn to percussion in the ninth grade. By the tenth grade, percussion had become my primary instrument. I got to study with Charles (Chuck) Memphis, percussionist with the Baltimore Symphony and a member of the faculty at The Peabody Conservatory. Mr. Memphis was that rare classical percussionist of the day in that he taught both the classical repertoire and Jazz/Dance Band drum set. I went on to study with him at Peabody as well as Morgan State University. It was also during this time that I would hang out and shed with fellow Baltimore drummers Larry Bright , Dennis Chambers, George Gray, Lurenda Featherstone, Scott Peaker and others. It was an incredibly creative and musically fertile environment. This led to me going on my first tour of Europe when I was 19 years old. This was followed by tours with vocalist Jeane Carne, a tour with the 26th Army Band of New York, tours with Vanessa Rubin and Lou Donaldson, gigs with Ahmad Jamal, Terence Blanchard and Tim Warfield, teaching at the Jazz in Summer camps with Shirley Scott and Terrell Stafford, touring Central and South America as a Jazz Ambassador for the US State Department, tours and recordings with Marlena Shaw, gigs with Eartha Kitt, forming the first African-American Professional Sound Manufacturers Rep firm in the country, gigs with Freddie Cole, tours with Stanley Turrentine, gigs with the Smithsonian Masterworks Orchestra, being named Assistant Director of Bands at The Landon School, producing multiple recordings for my production company IntrinsicValueProductions, leading my own groups, blah.........blah...........blah..........
I have some valuable information and this site lets you set up a time, set up a place (your place or mine) or set up a Zoom session to pick my brain. You can choose the subject matter and pay using the secure payment service.
